Adefope has long worked in groups with alternative comedians like Cat Cohen, Patti Harrison, and Mitra Jouhari, all of whom are alumni of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but she prefers the relatively laid-back London comedy scene to the often tense stand-up worlds of LA and New York. Adefope has focused more on filmmaking and less on stand-up in recent years, she tells me, and that works to her advantage: Her precise, almost scientific comedic timing in The Franchise makes her a natural fit in the Armando Iannucci universe. Dag steals the show in her supporting role, which I see as a sort of teaser for Adefope’s next leading role—if her career thus far is any indication, she’ll be coming in with equal parts wit and intellect.
We don't yet have a compelling English equivalent for "je ne sais quoi," but if there was one, Dakota Johnson would be it. The actress's gorgeous hair, naturally fresh demeanor, and very inspiring approach to sleep are just a few of the things we admire about her. What's more? Her dedicated approach to fitness. During her days of being stuck at home due to COVID, she made a discovery: the online fitness streaming platform Sculpt Society. "At the beginning of the pandemic, I was diving deep to find a workout that suited my preferences and my body—and then I became devoted to Megan!" Johnson says. She's kept up the fat-burning act ever since, recently using it to prep for this year's ultra-demanding Madame Web.
It didn't take long for Adefope and I's conversation to turn to two of our shared passions: Real Housewives and fashion. (Adefope is a Real Housewives of Salt Lake City watcher, while I'm more into New York.) After we'd finished chatting about Kyle Richards and sharing our dream of going to SUR—even though neither of us had watched Vanderpump Rules—I asked Adefope about the brands she'd been particularly into wearing lately and was delighted to discover that she'd actually kept a running list in the Notes app on her phone. A quick look at the list revealed Simone Rocha, Marni, Molly Goddard, and Jacquemus, as well as cult British brands like Studio Nicholson.
